Botanical print on wool, wool and cotton threads
My work is inspired by the fragrance of Farmacia S.S.Annunziata dedicated to "Arte dei Mercatanti", corporation estabilished in Florence during XIII sec whose activity consisted in importing rough wool fabric from abroad, to be dyed and refined and later exported.
Olfactory notes are obtained from precious raw material, spices, resins, aromatic woods, rose and geranium petals.
They evoque far-off places, traces of a long journey spread up from the merchant's baggage.
The wool fabric has been eco printed with botanical material, spices and aromatic woods then put under tension as occurred in the corporation's "tiratoi".
Colours recall the Guild's emblem.
