Digital photography, inkjet print on acetate, punched cards for Jacquard loom, textile scraps,
slide projector Kodak Carousel S-AV 1000 (1975), video editing, video loop 2'31''
The word Carousel indicates a circular whirling movement, a sequence or parade of images or things.
Carousel was the name given to the famous series of projectors that revolutionized the slide vision in the ‘60s.
Its continuous rotation and jerky sound remind of the Jacquard loom machine, where a chain of punched cards rotates so it’s possible to weave intricate patterns. These punched cards are the skeleton of the slides and their holes concur to the projected image.
Details of staircases and fabric fragments give birth to textile shadows in a rhythmic and ceaseless journey.
Every step and slide introduce us to a new fragment of this journey, like a "nostos" to a place we long for, elusive and constantly changing, time and memory exist in a circular dimension.
