Made during Ós Residency at the Icelandic Textile Center – Blönduós (Iceland)
Woven on a Glimakra countermarch loom.
I chose this pattern because it reminded me of little soil paths gradually emerging from snow.
Different soils made their journey from Snaefellsnes and Hverir (Myvatn), after crushing them I used the pigments to paint colorful paths.
The installation is inspired to the Vatnsdaela Tapestry hosted at the Icelandic Textile Center, depicting an Icelandic saga.
Cotton, Icelandic wool, soil pigments, wood
Hand weaving, painting
