The concept of “texture” (in italian “tessitura” which means "weaving") exists also in Geology, it indicates spatial and dimensional relations between the various materials contained in a rock.
Working with the faculty of Geology in Florence I gathered a collection of images of thin sections of rocks and mineral samples captured at the microscope.
Those images are transposed into textile matter matching a specific textile technique with a specific type of rock (tapestry for metamorfic rocks, horizontal loom weaving for sedimentary rocks, jacquard loom for magmatic rocks).
